The beginning moving of HGV (bus forklifts and truck) might be dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists who are in the front of the heavy vehicle.
Due to its height of the vehicle cabin, the front of the heavy vehicle is a “blind zone” for the driver and that is why the driver might start his ride without knowing that might be road users in the front of his vehicle.
In order to provide solution to this problem, the European Union issued a regulation (ECE R159) that characterizes a system that can alert the driver about being an objects in the front of his vehicle.
The Forklift MOIS (moving off information system) identifies pedestrians, cyclists in the near front of the vehicle. The system was tested by the Ariel Laboratories (Automotive Laboratory authorized by the Israeli Ministry of transportation) and was approved as a compliant with the ECE R159 standard.
