BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM

What is a Blind Spot zone?

A vehicle “blind spot” is a zone hidden from the driver, this occurs mainly with big Trucks/Buses and manifests itself when the driver makes a turn to the right side.

Every year this phenomenon causes a large number of victims among pedestrians and drivers of bicycles/motorcycles who are driving (situated) on the right side of the  Trucks/Buses, and the driver cannot detect their presence due the are being in a blind spot zone of the driver’s field of vision.

The European Union has decided to set a standard – ECE R151 for a system that would alert the driver from the presence of a Bike/motorcycle on the right side of a vehicle and thus reduce the number of accidents.

Our solution

A.D.I. Systems is proud to introduce a new safety system that helps the driver detect bicycle/motorcycle in blind spots zone, especially on the side of big Trucks/Buses, and draws the driver’s attention to their presence

The system detects pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, and cars in the areas outlined in the R151 standard, and provides solutions for detecting the presence of objects in the “blind spots” zone

SerVision BSIS based on sensors powered by a 77 GHz radar technology to detect “objects” in the “blind spots” zone.

DSIS – Characteristics

  • Radar sensors are unique in a way that they ensure monitoring and detection in all weather conditions, at any time of the day or night
  • The BSIS radar sensor installed on the right side of a Bus / Truck has 180-degree coverage, which means that the entire right side of the vehicle is completely safe.
  • When the driver operates the turn signal, the system determines the steering angle autonomously to estimate the blind spot zone
  • By adding a radar sensor to the left side of the Bus/Truck, the system turns into a BSIS + BSD system that provides the driver with detection and warning tools in all blind spots zone on both sides of the Bus/Truck

BSIS Components

The main purpose of the BSIS system is to detect and warn the driver of objects in the blind spot zone of the Bus/Truck (on the right side) when the driver turns right using the Turn Assist (TA) function.
